Warehouse Lead

<b>Job Description:</b><p>The Warehouse Lead is a core position that will be responsible for leading the coordination effort for such activities as safety, sanitation, quality, manufacturing and customer service performance, product storage, inventory accuracy, and implementation and support of lean initiatives. The Warehouse Lead will drive performance standards in coaching and developing of warehouse associates. The result should be quality pet food that meets or exceeds all quality specifications set by Mars Petcare in the amount and schedule indicated by business needs.<p><b>What are we looking for? </b><p><b>MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:</b><br /><ul><li>Good basic math, reading, and writing skills.</li><li>Good mechanical aptitude.</li><li>High School diploma or equivalent</li><li>Good housekeeping skills and knowledge of GMPs.</li><li>Basic knowledge of personal computers.</li><li>Good problem-solving skills.</li><li>Ability and willingness to develop and manage self, demonstrate self-directed workgroup leadership, and contribute to efficiency, quality, and cost optimization with minimal supervision and a positive attitude.</li><li>Ability to lift 50 lbs.</li><li>Ability to operate a forklift in a safe manner.</li><li>Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts under stressful conditions such as heat, cold, high, and/or confined spaces and have full mobility with the ability to climb ladders and stairs</li></ul><p><b>What will be your key responsibilities? </b> <br /><b>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</b><br /><ul><li>Understand and operate the warehouse under the Mars Personal Safety and Food Safety parameters.</li><li>Utilize technical skills and/or support to achieve desired performance levels.</li><li>Drive warehouse team to meet and exceed business metrics (OS&amp;D's, OTR, Fill Rate, Complete, etc).</li><li>Improve operations through individual and group problem solving and provide leadership in solving problems on the floor and in meetings.</li><li>Ability to use warehouse management systems (Red Prairie, Rebus, JDA, SAP, etc).</li><li>Able to quickly troubleshoot and address reliability issues in the warehouse.</li><li>Strong in goal setting and measuring performance of associates and teams.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal and team participation skills.</li><li>Coordinate area activities in such a way as to minimize waste, and demurrage (cost), and ensure continuous plant operations.</li><li>Responsible for all Inbound Packaging and Inbound Product.</li><li>Responsible for validating shipments and storing packaging properly.</li><li>Ability to receive material receipts in SAP.</li><li>Willing to actively address food safety and quality concerns</li><li>Accountable for proper filing of paperwork.</li><li>Responsible for Yard Management</li><li>Verifies the accuracy of trailer numbers on the outbound Bills of Ladings.</li><li>Verifies that the driver has pulled the correct trailer for his scheduled destination.</li><li>Spotter control</li><li>Maintain inventory accuracy of Finished Goods</li><li>Responsible for validating raw ingredient shipments</li><li>Handle and manage return trailers</li><li>Manage finished goods BOLs and seals</li><li>Door management</li></ul><p><b>Leadership &amp; Interpersonal Skills:</b><br /><ul><li>Ability to assess situations early and accurately to take effective and tactful action to correct and improve those situations.</li><li>Successfully resolve conflicts by listening, sharing thoughts, focusing on situations, not people, and by helping to create a positive work climate and establishing a feeling of partnership.</li><li>Facilitates efficient operation in the warehouse with a good understanding of the total pipeline.</li></ul><p><b>Communication:</b><br /><ul><li>Ability to communicate effectively with team members both verbally and in written format.</li><li>Seek feedback for improvement.</li><li>Give feedback to associates on the team</li><li>Gain support from others for new ideas and recommendations.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with the team</li><li>Relay important information to and from management to the shift and across areas of the plant</li></ul><p><b>Analysis/Problem Assessment:</b><br /><ul><li>Recognize trends that may lead to problems.</li><li>Identify cause and effect relationships.
