SUMMARY Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for a Ultrasound Technologist in our Ultrasound department. This casual position will working rotating hours when available. There will also be on-call and holiday rotation. Performs ultrasound scanning procedures. Reports preliminary findings to the Radiologist. Takes anatomical pictures to demonstrate organs. Participates in the education of healthcare providers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations
  • Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images
  • Uses independent judgement during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathological findings
  • Analyses sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician
  • Coordinates work schedule with departmental Supervisor and/or scheduling desk to assure workload coverage
  • Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer’s care
  • Assists with the daily operations of the ultrasound department
  • Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area, and maintains adequate supplies
  • Establishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with all interrelating hospital referral or commercial agencies
  • Coordinate with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is provided
  • Provides ultrasound skill training for ultrasound technologist students and Radiology Residents

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in ultrasound technology and a graduate of an accredited School of Ultrasound Technology by CAAHEP
  • Certification or certification eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). If “eligible”, employee must be certified within one year of hire
  • Maintains minimum CE credits as mandated by the accrediting body ARDMS
  • Possess current CPR certification or obtain within 4 months of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One years of ultrasound experience or internship at HCMC
  • Proficient in Abdomen, OB/Gyn and Small Parts
