Issues affecting the safety, operations and efficiencies of their operations occur without warning or at inopportune times and can have extensive impacts throughout their transportation networks. The ability to quickly react to these issues and the complex solutions required to resolve them is of critical value to our clients and as such we are looking to expand our Team to better position ourselves to assist our clients in resolving the problems of tomorrow. As a member of the New England Structures group, the Transportation Infrastructure Project Engineer is responsible for working with various disciplines to complete projects which include the evaluation of existing conditions, designing and detailing proposed engineering solutions, and providing engineering support during the execution of the solution. The primary role of this position will be responding to specific client requests and/or emergencies and developing engineered solutions to address/resolve the unique requirements of a specific engineering opportunity. The Transportation Infrastructure Project Engineer will interface with the Owners/initiators of these projects and the Structures group staff to develop a detailed project plan to execute the required engineering scope in accordance with the unique needs of each specific opportunity. In addition, this position may require performing alternative or feasibility studies as part of the preliminary design for larger scale capital projects which may result. Essential Functions of the positions include: • Coordinating design and specifications development, including necessary subconsultants or subcontractors to satisfy specific client needs • Providing construction/implementation support to clients. • Collaborating with other team members, disciplines and subconsultants to ensure consistency and teamwork • Coordinating safe access to and determining necessary equipment and PPE to perform evaluations • Supervising, coaching and assisting in the development of junior staff who may be assigned to support specific project assignments • Coordinating safe access to and determining necessary equipment and PPE to perform evaluations • Providing technical leadership and direction to the project team • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited institution • Experience working on Civil, Structural and Architectural projects • Working knowledge of standard office computer software (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), Bluebeam, and AutoCAD • Experience working on active construction projects or around active roadways or transit facilities • Availability to work outside the normal workday (including at nights) as emergency or safety protocols require • To be a self-starter and have the desire continuously improve • EIT Certificate (PE is a plus but not required) or Professional Engineer (PE) License Ideally, you will also have: • Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or related field • Familiarity with practices and procedures of public transportation agencies in Massachusetts, including the MBTA, MassDOT and Massport Jacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
