Shamin Hotels is an award-winning developer and Virginia's largest hotel owner, which owns and operates over 70 hotels and has another 15 under various stages of development. With that growth we are seeking a dynamic leader who can join our team as a Tax Accountant.
Essential Job Functions:

  • Track and record lease/rental income. Follow up with tenants.
  • Prepare hotel data to send to CPA for tax return preparation. Correspond with the CPA during tax preparation, provide him with any additional documents when requested.
  • Once the tax returns are finalized, post the adjustments sent by CPA, upload tax returns, K-1, & asset schedules in google drive and post adjusting and depreciation journal entries provided by CPA.
  • Assist in other tax-related tasks like extensions and making payments.
  • Prepare and file non hotel tax returns using Turbo Tax.
  • Make mortgage payments for all the hotels and reconcile monthly mortgage related g/l accounts such as the FFE reserve, tax escrow, and insurance escrow.
  • Reconciliations of balance sheet accounts like Mortgage, Real estate Tax escrow, FFE reserve.
  • Collect and submit necessary supporting documents to banks for disbursement of funds in FFE reserve.
  • Calculate and accrue interest on intercompany loans on a quarterly basis. Reconciling intercompany loan account.
  • On quarterly basis, accrue costs paid by "Shamin Renovations" for each hotel, in respective hotel fixed asset accounts.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations for non-hotel accounts.
  • Assist with the preparation of hotel annual budgets (CMBS loans only)
  • Reconcile hotel operating accounts
  • Review monthly sales tax returns
  • Assist with sales tax audits
  • File business personal property tax returns

Education & Experience:
  • Four-year undergraduate degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Audit, Economics, or Business Administration or equivalent work experience
  • Strong financial knowledge required.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and possess basic mathematical skills
  • Reading, Writing, Basic Math
  • Computer skills
