United Health Care Staffing is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 10/21/2024 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel • Active IA or compact state RN license required. • Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS. • More than 2 years of experience required. • Must be covid vaccinated. PR of Beds: 22 - Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:04 - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Heart failure, Afib, respiratory distress, stroke - Are RNs required to titrate drips? : Yes - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro - Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? : Yes- does take a full patient assignment - Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? : Yes- 1:10 - RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? : CPAP - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? : RNs must read and interpret strips - Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling? ): 0630-1900, 1830-0700 // cyclic scheduling - Weekend Requirements: Every third - Holiday Requirements: 1 major, 1 minor - Floating Requirements: Will float to ICU if appropriate and has experience - How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation? : 1- 12 hour shift in the department - Additional Notes: Fast paced unit with many admits and discharges. Attributes that help make a nurse successful in this department are a positive attitude, teamwork, patient oriented, and comes to work to care for someone Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
