Under the oversight of the MRI Supervisor and/or Lead Technologist, assists the MRI Technologist in performing a variety of duties and procedures necessary for the everyday operations of the MRI Department and patient schedule.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO: Follows all MRI Safety Policies. Screens patients, obtains pertinent clinical history before MRI examination and reviews with the MRI Technologist. Greets patients in a prompt and courteous manner. Assists patient with changing for the exam. Assists in sliding patient on and off stretcher to MRI scan table. Assists Technologist with positioning of patients. Assists Technologist in changing MRI coils. Assists patient in and out of the scan room. Transports patient when needed. Conducts proper discharge of patient. Assists in monitoring safe access to the MRI suite. Ensures the stocking of scan rooms and linen closets. Completes special projects as requested by management. Read and responds to all e-mails appropriately.
TECHNOLOGY AND LEARNING: Utilizes all software applications required by departmental standards. Access Outlook to review email, WorkDay, Epic, and PACS as applicable. Participates in continued learning and possess a willingness and ability to learn and utilize new technology and procedures that continue to develop in their role and throughout the organization. Embraces technological advances that allow us to communicate information effectively and efficiently based on role.
COMPLIANCE: Works within legal, regulatory, and ethical practice standards relevant to the position. Complies with applicable policies and procedures. Safeguards the privacy and security of patient information. The employee complies with policies and procedures relating to SSHS's privacy and security programs. Brings potential compliance issues to MRI Supervisor, Diagnostic Imaging Executive Director, or VP of Clinical and Ancillary Services. Complies with the mandatory education requirements of the compliance, privacy, and security programs.

Successfully answers safety questions in annual mandatory education program. Understands individual roles/responsibilities during hospital codes (e.g., Code Red). Utilizes proper body mechanics when performing all aspects of job. Maintains a neat, organized work environment. Verifies patient identification with 2 identifiers prior to the start of any procedure. Complies with the current CDC hand hygiene guidelines through proper handwashing. Adheres to universal precautions, makes appropriate use of personal protective equipment at all times and appropriately disposes of hazardous materials. Maintains awareness of MSDS sheets and how to access.
