<p><b>Job Description Summary</b></p><p>NEW COMPETITIVE PAY RATES AND A $10,000 SIGN ON BONUS! Hourly Pay Range: $42 - $56.53 Performs ultrasound scanning procedures. Reports preliminary findings and diagnoses to the Radiologist. Takes anatomical pictures to demonstrate organs.</p><p><b>Job Description</b></p><p></p><p><b>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</b></p><p></p><p><b>1 - Receives and reviews requests for ultrasound studies on patients of all ages from child to geriatric.</b></p><p>   a - Performs such exams as Abdominal Echoes, Renal, Aortic, Pelvic, Obstetrical and Biophysical Profiles, small parts to include breast, thyroid and scrotal exams. </p><p>   b - Able to assist radiologist with invasive procedures including biopsies and aspirations.</p><p>   c - Assist surgeons in OR with ultrasound guidance.</p><p></p><p><b>2 -</b> <b>Utilizes real-time transvaginal transducers.</b></p><p></p><p><b>3</b> - <b>Checks all images with the Radiologist.</b></p><p>   a - Consults with the Radiologist about the reading or scans and reports.</p><p></p><p><b>4</b> - <b>Provides written, unofficial reports of examinations.</b></p><p></p><p><b>5</b> - <b>Takes representative anatomical pictures, recognizes normal versus abnormal anatomy, and exhibits knowledge of various pathological processes.</b></p><p></p><p><b>6</b> - <b>Marks images for proper definition and explanation.</b></p><p></p><p><b>7</b> - <b>Performs general clerical duties accurately, including but not limited to:</b></p><p>   a - Greeting patients in a courteous manner consistent with the hospital’s policy.</p><p>   b - Logs and checks in patients accurately and appropriately.</p><p>   c - Verifies information and exams performed.  Updates and changes exam description to reflect actual exams performed.  This assures the correct billing of patient accounts.</p><p>   d - Quality assures exams performed, to capture the technologist, the room utilized and the time utilized.</p><p>   e - Disposes of used linen and supplies in an appropriate manner.</p><p></p><p><b>8</b> - <b>Safety Awareness – Fosters a “Culture of Safety” through personal ownership and commitment to a safe environment.</b></p><p>   a - Prior to the start of any invasive procedures, a final verification to confirm the correct patient, procedure, site, and information is done.</p><p>   b - Verifies patient according to policy prior to administration of care/procedures/medications.</p><p>   c - Follows approved procedure for verifying MD orders including a verbal readback to the licensed independent practitioner after receiving a telephone order.</p><p>   d - Complies with the current CDC hand hygiene guidelines through proper handwashing , as observed by nurse manager and peers.</p><p>   e - Consistently follows the South Shore Hospital policy to mark surgical sites.</p><p>   f - Makes appropriate use of personal protective equipment at all times.</p><p>   g - Adheres to respiratory etiquette guidelines.</p><p>   h - Adheres to universal precautions.</p><p>   i - Appropriately disposes of hazardous materials.</p><p>   j - Adheres to electrical safety guidelines.</p><p></p><p><b>Technology and Learning</b></p><p>   a - Participates in continued learning and possess a willingness and ability to learn and utilize new technology and procedures that continue to develop in their role and throughout the organization.</p><p>   b - Embraces technological advances that allow us to communicate information effectively and efficiently based on role.</p><p></p><p><b>JOB REQUIREMENTS</b></p><p><b>Minimum Education - Preferred</b></p><p>Prefer graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Program.</p><p></p><p><b>Minimum Work Experience</b></p><p>Need one to two (1–2) years to be fully proficient.</p><p></p><p><b>Required Licenses / Registrations </b></p><p>RDMS or eligible - Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers</p><p></p><p></p>
