Senior Technical Architect

TETER is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Architect to lead the technical development of projects, from inception to completion. The Senior Technical Architect will collaborate with the Project Manager and the PM will interface with the client and manage the overall project.

The Senior Technical Architect will serve as the Architect of Record (AOR), directing the work of production staff (job captains and design professionals) and generating project documents including plans, sections, details, and project manual/specifications.

The ideal candidate will have experience working on large projects where the Architect of Record and Project Manager are separate roles filled by two different individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Provide architectural and technical leadership, ensuring that architectural solutions meet client goals and TETER's quality standards.
  • Technical Supervision: Supervise the preparation of technical drawings by less senior architects and technicians, providing feedback and generating red marks.
  • Detailed Documentation: Create detailed architectural drawings, plans, and specifications, utilizing both traditional and digital design tools. Ensure construction detail documentation conforms to quality assurance and best practice standards.
  • Design Challenges: Apply technical knowledge to address design challenges, optimize project efficiency, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Quality Control: Conduct quality assurance reviews of project drawings, identify potential issues, resolve conflicts, and ensure compliance with design intent and industry standards.
  • Product Research: Perform material and building systems research, evaluating, and selecting project-related materials.
  • On-Site Coordination: Attend on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings. Prepare and coordinate the review of contractor's schedules, submission of shop drawings, and samples.
  • Cost Estimation: Support the Project Manager and/or Principal Architect in developing opinions of probable cost estimates and scope of work and fee.
  • Team Support: Provide support to all team members for specific markets, disciplines, or other areas of expertise. Mentor less experienced staff and support their professional development through training and coaching.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 15+ years of experience as a licensed Architect.
  • License: Licensed California Architect.
  • Education: Bachelor of Architecture, Bachelor of Science in Architecture, or completion of a professional development program resulting in architectural licensure.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Expert knowledge in the development of construction documents across all levels of project documentation, including Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documents for complex project types.
    • Proficiency in programming and construction administration.
    • Specialized skills in various construction types: Commercial, Institutional, Medical, Higher Education, etc.
    • Knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit with the ability to view and navigate documents preferred.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to correspond with owners, contractors, consultants, and staff.
  • Time Management: Excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently and with multi-disciplinary project teams.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee staff assigned to the same projects, including reviewing work and providing feedback.
  • Mentor less experienced staff, offering development opportunities through training and coaching.

Compensation & Benefits

The expected pay range for this role is $125,100-140,500 annual salary (must be willing to work in-office 50% of each week). Actual pay will be determined based on license, experience, qualifications, geographic location, business needs, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
