Overview: This position provides technical support for integrating and administrating the Health Care District's Local and Wide Area Network environments with specific focus in areas of network security. In addition, this position is responsible for coordinating problem resolution for network–related issues with vendors and other IT staff as appropriate. This individual applies knowledge as required for analyzing, designing, installing, configuring, managing, and modification of network security appliances and devices, switches, routers, application appliances, and wireless technology. This position also assists in the formulation and execution of the District's disaster recovery procedures for all network infrastructure systems.

Responsibilities: The Network Security Engineer coordinates various evaluation, maintenance, installation, and training tasks to ensure the computer network performance meets District and user satisfaction as well as the District's security requirements. This position also provides direction, information, and recommendations regarding network security configurations and installations.

Provide technical assistance for understanding, troubleshooting, and resolving network communication problems.

Utilizes all IT Tools/documentation processes. Assists with the integrity of the Help Desk functions and IT On–Call duties and responsibilities.

Execute proper evaluation and careful analysis of network and network security technologies.

Evaluate new networking and network security technologies as they evolve and recommend performance–enhancing as well as security–enhancing network equipment.

Provide technical support and assistance involving network and/or network security–related problems promptly.

Communicate and collaborate with end users/customers, agencies, and departmental staff to troubleshoot and resolve network and network security issues.

Maintain current knowledge of information systems technology related to local/wide area networks and network security technologies.

Monitor and provide system measurement tools for evaluation purposes, providing daily/weekly and monthly reports on network performance levels as well as network security status across the District and making recommendations for strategic planning and future growth.

Understands and provides appropriate and proper security protocols for network data transfers. Works closely with all IT and customers for data integrity and security processes.

Configure and deploy network switches, routers, firewalls, VPN appliances, wireless controllers, and access points.

Effective troubleshooting of Cisco routers, switches (Catalyst and Nexus), and MPLS circuits, Cisco ISE, FPTD and ASA firewalls.

Maintain current firmware/code and security patches on all network devices.

Responsible for monitoring licenses and support contracts for all networking equipment.

Participates in developing and testing a comprehensive disaster recovery plan to maintain connectivity and accessibility to all essential network resources.

Document and update network diagrams and all related procedures as the network evolves.

Participates in end–user support and training for the computing environment as needed.

Actively participates in maintaining network–related asset management.

Participates in setting up special facilities to support the Health Care District's business functions and goals.

Travel between work sites to provide support during regular business hours and after hours as required.

Take part in emergency duties as required to respond to threats or disasters, man–made or natural.

Qualifications: Education:

High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in information systems or a related discipline preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 5 years experience in the network security engineer field required. Field experience should encompass enterprise network technologies (CISCO) support, applied network security engineering, knowledge of disaster recovery procedures, and the ability to work with a diverse technical team and infrastructure required.

Certification:

Current Cisco CCNP certification required

Licensure:

Valid Florida Driver's License required.

Registrations:

Training:

Knowledge of CISCO routers and switches, Cisco ISE, ASAs, and FTD/FMC is required.
