JOB DESCRIPTION
Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Department: Observation Unit
Shift Timing: Night Shift 19:00 - 07:30 Hours

• Unit Capacity: 27 Beds
• Population Served: The most frequent diagnosis for surgical procedures are total joint replacements, arthroscopes (uni and bilateral knee, uni and bilateral hip, shoulder), lumbar laminectomy, and kyphoplasty.
• Patients do not require mechanical ventilation and are hemodynamically stable.
• Telemetry monitoring is available 24 hours per day.
• Ages of Patients Served : Adolescent through Late Adult (14 - 60+)
• Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:6

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
• Implements and monitors patient care plans.
• Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
• Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
• The ability to stand for extended periods.
• Strong technical skills.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI)
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Passionate about patient care
• A graduate of a fully accredited RN nursing program
• Two years of current med/surg respiratory experience
• Active unencumbered Kansas RN state license
• Minimum two years as a travel nurse

Requirements:

• COVID vaccine with 2 Shots & Booster.
