Position Summary
IT Applications is looking for an individual with a demonstrated aptitude for learning new tools and technologies, an intellectual curiosity, technical support experience, and a customer service mentality. We seek individuals who share our guiding principles and can put them to work to help us deliver secure, accessible, reliable, innovative, and effective applications to the University.
The Enterprise Applications Support Team in the UNM IT Applications division is responsible for administering and supporting a wide variety of applications, including Banner (our ERP and SIS system) and many other applications that integrate with Banner and are used by our key business offices at UNM (e.g., Lobotime, UNMJobs, Chrome River). We also support custom web applications like MyUNM and our Banner Authorization Request System, commercial products that support our own business functions (Cherwell IT Service Management, Pinnacle Tele-management System), and UNM's web hosting tools (Cascade Web Content Management) and environment (cPanel Web Hosting Platform).
Ours is a broad workload, providing many learning opportunities across different technologies. Typically, we are providing support services directly to end-users campus-wide (students, faculty, and staff) and UNM business office customers (HR, Enrollment Management, Payroll, Finance), but we also participate in improving processes and innovating our applications, not only by developing engineered fixes to systemic issues but by providing insight into the needs of our internal business partners and advance solutions. The environment can be very dynamic, sometimes requiring fast-paced collaboration with other team members or IT staff, at other times requiring self-paced independent research and development. In general, current and past members of the team with an aptitude and willingness to learn new technologies have been the most successful.
Overall, our team takes pride in providing a high level of excellent service and support to the UNM community.
Job Duties:
  • Fulfill service requests such as accounts and web-hosting requests.
  • Respond to incident tickets related to Banner and many other applications by gathering facts, researching issues, analyzing potential solutions.
  • Work with team members and customers to resolve issues and fulfill requests.

  • Uses discretionary judgement to perform analysis of business objectives and develop solutions for problems of moderately advanced complexity.
  • Participate in the division's on-call process, requiring the employee to be available after hours for two to three weeks a year.
  • Completes custom application modifications to enhance functionality per requests ad proper approvals received from the functional steward.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology, programming skills, hardware, and applications. Participates in professional development activities as appropriate.
