A successful Corporate Tax Staff Accountant requires a basic knowledge of tax and accounting, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prepare deliverables within deadlines. This role is primarily responsible for day-to-day state and local tax work, compiling and analyzing information in excel and special projects. This role is managed by the Senior Tax Manager and is a part of the Corporate Accounting team.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Key Functions:

Assist with preparation of state and local income tax workpapers, sales & use tax analysis (where applicable), property tax payments and assessment review, as well as other miscellaneous tax items
Assist with maintaining and enhancing state and local tax processes
Assist with state and local tax audits
Assist with maintaining exemption certificates
Assist with tax research and analyses
Assist with maintaining of tax calendar and tracking of tax inquiries
Assist with reconciliation and roll forward of financial statement tax accounts such as the accruals for real estate, GST, and income tax
Compiling data for tax submissions to various taxing authorities
Ensure compliance with internal controls
Build strong relationships with internal customers to become a trusted business partner
Other duties or tasks as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
Expertise in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and PowerPoint
Experience in state corporate taxation

Preferred Qualifications:

Not-for-profit experience
Government Contracting experience
Experience with Costpoint
