Surgical Technologist/Technician

Cetechs,  a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), is looking for a Surgical Technologist/Technician to support our team at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Minneapolis, MN.
  Duties

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Receives requests or instructions for procedures and interprets requests or instructions for medical health care personnel;
  • Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures such as open heart, thoracic, major vascular, neurosurgery, microsurgery, and total joint replacement surgery;
  • Secures patients' confidence and cooperation during procedures, explains procedures, positions patients for desired results, and cushions and shields patients as appropriate;
  • Administers drugs under close control;
  • Operates and maintains medical instruments and equipment for diagnostic and treatment procedures;
  • Sets up the sterile field with all required items for each procedure such as air powered equipment, fiber optic equipment, laparoscopic equipment, microscopes, lasers, arthroscopy equipment, urologic equipment, recording devices, etc.;
  • Observes and responds promptly to each stage of a surgical procedure, anticipating the needs of the surgeon;
  • Performs a range of diagnostic support duties such as taking, recording and reporting to the supervisor deviations in vital signs, taking specimens, and labeling specimens for the laboratory;
  • Manages administrative functions of an office; and
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education
  • Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent.
Experience
• Previous Operating room experience preferred

  • Ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Communication and Interpersonal skills
Licensure/Certification
  • Certified Surgical Technologist(CST) through governing body, i.e. National Board Surgical Technologists (NBST), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); or obtained within 12 months of hire (Preferred)
  • BLS certification required at time of hire
  • Must be a US Citizen
Schedule 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
9:30 am – 6:00 pm
11:00 am – 7:30 pm
Contract personnel will rotate with VA staff to provide off hours call coverage. Off hours call coverage hours are:
 Weekday: Monday – Thursday, 7:00 pm – 6:30 am
Weekend: Friday at 7:00 pm – Monday at 6:30 am
