SUMMARY

The Supplier Quality Engineer II is responsible for qualification, development, and evaluation of the Andis supply chain. The incumbent will work with Andis suppliers as well as other team members to drive continuous improvement on supplied product and processes to continue to position Andis as the Market Leader in quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

Supplier Qualification

-Responsible for helping to evaluate and qualify Andis suppliers

  • Leads on-sight audits and evaluations of supplier performance and capability, to ensure suppliers have effective quality systems. Works with Purchasing and Product Engineering to determine supplier fit with Andis and to qualify supplier.
  • Works with Purchasing and Product Engineering to investigate new suppliers and technologies to improve the quality and processes related to the evaluation of Andis products.
  • Completes component and finished good PPAP’s (Production Part Approval Process) for new suppliers, new products, and supplier product/process changes.

Supplier Development

-Responsible for working with Andis suppliers to enhance product and processes

  • Works with suppliers to drive process improvement projects to increase efficiency, reduce costs, simplify processes, and improve quality, with a goal to create robust and resilient quality systems at our suppliers.
  • Acts as a liaison between Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Regulatory, Production, Sales, and Service to ensure product conformance and customer satisfaction.
  • Supports Product Engineering and Production during NPD to ensure successful transition of products and processes from design to production. Anticipates and drives design, manufacturing, and quality control changes to improve quality and reliability. Evaluates and develops supplier processes through process and/or tooling validations.

Supplier Evaluation

-Responsible for developing and improving suppliers’ product and processes

  • Coordinates and drives Supplier Corrective Action (SCAR) activities and completes follow-up evaluations to determine completion and effectiveness of corrective actions at eliminating and preventing recurrence of defects.
  • Works with Purchasing to help evaluate suppliers’ performance based on Quality Scorecard criteria.

Production Support

-Responsible for supporting production and leading quality investigations

  • Supports Quality Technicians as needed. Provides direction for NCMR initiation. Where appropriate, provides disposition of non-conforming purchased products in a timely, economical manner.
  • Leads and drives supplier quality issues to closure with proper urgency to minimize impact to production.
  • Analyzes quality information and drives the adjustment to product design, manufacturing process and equipment, and quality procedures.

General

-Responsible for coaching, leading, and helping to establish the vision for the associates in the Quality Department

  • Upholds Andis Core Values in all work-related activities.
  • Supports Quality Engineers as needed and engage suppliers to improve process for Andis benefits.
  • Assists with coaching and mentoring Quality Technicians to develop their skills.
  • Proactively communicates with management, stake holders, and business units.
  • Exercises judgment using a risk-based approach, when necessary, in proposing innovative, practical methods to achieve problem resolution.
  • Fosters a collaborative and cross-functional work environment.
  • May be trained as an internal auditor and perform quality audits.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree (B. A. /B.S.) from four-year college or university with a minimum of at least a year of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Skills:

  • Experience leading standard problem-solving activities from initiation through completion (8D, DMAIC, 8 Step, A3).
  • Statistical Process Techniques, Failure Analysis, and Process Validation experience.
  • Project Management Skills.
  • Lean/6 Sigma background preferred.
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, Access, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced blueprint reading skills, advanced math, and an intermediate understanding of Minitab.

KPI’s:

Reduction in supplier NCMR costs/PPM.

Reduction in supplier scrap.

Supplier Audits completed as scheduled.
