Summary:

The purpose of this position is to directly supervise and coordinate the activities of Team Members and production, while also ensuring that all quality, training, and safety standards are being met.

Essential Functions:

1. Plan, monitor, and adjust production schedules and cycle times in collaboration with other Department Supervisors (DSs) and the Plant Manager (PM) to ensure that hourly targets and daily production goals are met.

2. Oversee the safety, performance, training, and development of Team Members (TMs) by regularly inspecting the individual’s work, providing direction, and encouragement.

3. Learn, understand, and utilize the individual skills and talents of each TM to ensure that they are in the optimal position to provide high performance levels.

4. Collaborate with Team Lead to ensure that any noted deficits in TM performance are acknowledged via training, redirection, or job/position modifications.

5. Investigate quality deficits in order to determine the underlying cause(s) for the deficiency; establish or recommend best practices to prevent future occurrences (e.g., additional training, product changes, equipment repairs).

6. Regularly inspect tools, workstations, and equipment to prevent or spot defects, malfunctions or impairments that could lead to safety, quality, or performance concerns.

7. Maintain operations data, timecards, and attendance records.

8. Confer with management and Human Resources (HR) to resolve TM disputes or grievances.

9. Collaborate with HR and management to recommend or complete personnel activities (e.g., interviews, disciplinary actions, performance evaluations, promotions, and terminations).

10. Set up, adjust, or requisition repairs for machines and equipment.

11. Ensure Team Leads and TMs are cleaning their workstations, equipment, and the department every day.

12. Ensure all actions are in compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

13. Complete other duties and cross-training activities as assigned.Essential Functions:

Additional Duties: 

• Work overtime, as required, to ensure proper start up and completion of daily production.
• Cross-train in other departments to be able to assist where and when needed.

Competencies:

• Excellent communications skills (verbal and written): must be able to communicate in a variety of ways so that TMs understand training and redirection (e.g., verbal, written, visual, hands-on)
• Ability to provide written documentation that is both detailed and highly accurate
• Ability to follow both written and verbal procedures
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities and job duties
• Ability to read and interpret written instructions

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to visually inspect products close range, distance, color variations
• Ability to quickly move your hands, arms, or fingers to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects
• Balance and flexibility, with an ability to safely navigate over and around equipment and tools
• Ability to work in varied positions (e.g., overhead, flat, and vertical work)
• Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, and squatting
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Occupational Conditions: 

• Manufacturing facility – must comply with all safety regulations and PPE requirements (e.g., gloves, face shields, steel toe shoes, safety glasses)
• Exposure to hot and cold temps for long periods of time
