Our dedicated professionals help ensure the quality, safety, and sustainability of electrical products used by people throughout the world.<p><strong>What are we looking for? </strong><p>The <strong>Staff Engineer, Electrical Safety - UL, CSA, NFPA</strong> position is responsible for providing technical expertise to personnel and operations at the local or regional level; for recommending and managing capital expenditure projects; and for assessing and developing local training. This position is the primary resource for review and approval of test procedures, methods and interpretations. <p><strong>Shift: 1st - 8:00am - 4:30pm</strong><p><strong>Salary &amp; Benefits Information</strong><p> <strong>The base wage or salary range for this position is </strong> $85K - $125K <strong>. When working with Intertek, you can expect a benefit package competitively placed within the local market, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) with company match, generous vacation / sick time (PTO), tuition reimbursement and more. <p> <strong>What you'll do:</strong> <br /> <ul><li>Provide local management with technical assessment of engineering skills and performance levels.</li> <li>Responsible for assessing training of the technical staff and development of new training programs.</li> <li>Provide on-going support and guidance on technical issues, test procedures, and standards interpretations.</li> <li>Provide quotes for a large array of standards and complex projects and products.</li> <li>Research new standards, technologies, and trends in standards.</li> <li>Represent Intertek on technical committees, code panels and/or associations.</li> <li>Support accreditations activities such as audit follow-up and corrective actions. Investigate technical complaints. </li> <li>Provide complex sales support such as giving presentations during client visits.</li> <li>Provide on-going support to clients as needed.</li> <li>Recommend and prepare capital expenditure requests and manage capital projects.</li> <li>Mentor less senior technical staff.</li> <li>Perform other work as required.</li> </ul> <br />This position outline is a general guideline and does not represent all encompassing details. The position assumes that the incumbent has both the mental and physical requirements to carry out the above defined duties. <p><strong>Minimum</strong> <strong>Requirements &amp; Qualifications:</strong><br /> <ul><li>Bachelor's degree in engineering.</li> <li>6+ years of experience in a directly related field/industry.</li> <li>Advanced experience with U.S., Canadian, and other international product safety standards, i.e., ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC and CISPR.</li> <li>Ability to apply principles of logic or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.</li> <li>Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently where limited standardization exists.</li> <li>Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines.</li> <li>Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management.</li> <li>Excellent communication skills, in verbal, written and presentation formats.</li> <li>Ability to travel 15% is required.</li> <li>Valid driver's license and reliable driving record is required.</li> </ul> <br /><strong>Preferred </strong> <strong>Requirements &amp; Qualifications:</strong> <br /> <ul><li>Master's degree in engineering</li> <li>8+ years of experience in a directly related field/industry.</li> <li>Professional Engineer (PE) license</li> </ul> <br /><strong>Intertek Total Quality Assured</strong><p>Intertek is a world leader in the Quality Assurance market, with a proven, high-quality business model and a global network of customer-focused operations and highly engaged subject matter experts.
