Job Description
Summary : Senior Civil Engineer designs and supervises construction projects such as airports, bridges, channels, dams, railroads, or roads. Reviews designs, tests and assesses materials, and performs necessary data collection and calculations in areas such as traffic forecasting, soil capacity, groundwater analysis, and structure design. Being a Senior Civil Engineer responsibilities also include estimating costs, estimating personnel and material needs, preparing proposals, and establishing completion dates. May also assist in inspecting aging infrastructure or overseeing improvement projects. Additionally, Senior Civil Engineer requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Require a Professional Engineer License (PE). Typically reports to a manager or head of unit/ department. Senior Civil Engineer work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. To be a Senior Civil Engineer typically requires 4-7 years of related experience.
Responsibilities :
• Able to lead a small to large team to deliver on commitments.
• Training and mentoring of staff
• Prepare designs and reports, perform calculations
• Interact and communicate with the project team, clients and agencies
• Attend meetings and perform site visits as needed
• Complete project activities within budget
Qualifications :
• Professional Engineering registration is required
• Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university is required.
• 4-7 years of experience in residential and/or commercial Civil design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and other design software.
• Expertise with civil analysis software including operating and interpreting results.
Knowledge of the discipline specific methods, practices and techniques required to engineer, design and construct land development projects.
• Experience working with engineers, architects, and owners, and the ability to understand all parts of engineering contract documents.
• Experience performing onsite inspections, leading progress meetings and coordinating with contractors and field staff.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Virtual team skills and cross divisional relationships are developed, and able to provide interoffice execution leadership and support.
