Speech Language Pathologist - RHES

Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Proper State licensure
  • Possession of Certificate of Clinical Competence
  • Proper endorsements as required
Reports To:
  • Building Principal and Student Services
Responsibilities:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Evaluate student's current level of functioning as it relates to the areas of language and communication, using culturally sensitive and appropriate assessment tools
  • Schedule, plan and convene ETR teams for the purposes of initial and re-evaluations
  • Regularly evaluate and report student progress, identifying strengths and needs to assist the team in making program modifications
  • Regularly collect and analyze data
  • Determine appropriate interventions based on assessment results
  • Collaborate with general education staff and special education staff to determine needs and monitor progress
  • Experience providing services within the general education setting
  • Experience participating on Teacher Based Teams
  • Implements appropriate instructional activities, based on established curriculum, which meet the individual learning needs of students and maximize communication and participation opportunities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of special education principles and strategies as applied to children with severe speech and physical impairments.
  • Knowledge of augmentative/alternative communication principles and strategies, and technology applications currently available in the field.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive reports, speak and write effectively and work under a minimum of direction.
  • Ability to elicit the cooperation of others and function as an effective team member.
  • Ability to participate in the overall educational program and team planning, development of activities that include long range strategic goals and initiatives.
  • Follows confidentiality procedures regarding students, parents/guardians, and fellow staff members
  • Adheres to established laws, policies, rules, and regulations
  • Performs assigned duties and is punctual with reports, grades, records and reporting to work
