Q: There are only about six people in the world who could set up fail-safes like this. Bond: Can you get past them? Q: I invented them. This conversation between James Bond and MI6’s head of research and development in the film Skyfall captures the work of SAIF’s new software quality engineer. While you will not be inventing radioactive lint or a car invisibility cloak like Q, you will help your team develop test solutions to ensure the quality of our digital products – helping them become fail safe. As our software quality engineer, you’ll be part of a team that will build quality into our software – that is, you’ll be involved in a product’s life cycle from start to finish. You’ll execute tests through the full stack and assist with the maintenance of our cloud-first automation suite. To start, your primary focus will be manual testing, but automation support will become a notable portion of your workload. You’ll work collaboratively with business analysts, developers, and quality assurance peers to not just spot errors or weaknesses in systems and products, but also invent solutions that result in a reliable, secure, and enjoyable customer experience. If you’d like to join SAIF as our new Q, we encourage you to apply today. Flexible workers may be required to travel to SAIF’s offices in Salem, Oregon. Responsibilities: Perform testing for the quality assurance program, including test methodology and standards, to meet organizational test and quality assurance needs for moderately complex software applications. Assist with the automation effort by focusing and encouraging automated testing. Work with business analysts and development teams to understand usage scenarios, boundary conditions, and acceptance criteria. Participate in the selection of test automation tools. Develop test strategies and create appropriate test harnesses and automation systems. Create test plans, test cases, and test scripts, and evaluate the outcomes and recommend solutions. Assist in developing and perform the test plans and testing practices adopted by teams. Research, evaluate, recommend, and provide technical enhancements to quality assurance processes and systems. Explore diverse perspectives and consistently behave sensitively toward differences in cultural norms, expectations, and ways of communicating. Work effectively with others who have different perspectives, backgrounds, and/or work styles. Continually sustain the Inclusive Leadership Competencies (ILC) through the Explorer level on an annual basis.
