Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Staff Coordinator supports activities of the Medical Staff Services department including the development, planning and operational management of the Medical and Allied Health professional staff initial and reappointment credentialing process. Meets objectives in accordance with Medical Staff policies, bylaws, rules and regulations to assure only qualified practitioners provide care at Marshall Medical Center (MMC) facilities. The position provides administrative and clerical support to facilitate timely and accurate completion of projects and activities within the department. Serves as an essential link and resource between medical staff leadership and the medical staff to promote and enhance communications through a positive working relationship. Assists the Medical Staff Director with assignments as needed, coordinates and supports meetings for Medical Staff committees, and assists with the maintenance and scheduling of the Medical Staff Library. Also assists the Provider Recruitment department and the Community Health Library staff with back up coverage as needed.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Licensure/Certification:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred, or employee must be actively working towards this certification, with completion within 2 years of hire.
Knowledge:
  • Minimum two years secretarial experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Basic medical terminology, records maintenance and retrieval systems, proficiency in Windows-based word processing and spreadsheet software and basic office equipment familiarity are required.
  • Experience in hospital Independent Practice Association, PHO or Medical Staff Services preferred.
  • Familiarity with MIDAS and Credentialing Software preferred.
Skills:
  • Typing of 60+ CWPM
  • Effective written and oral communications, including accurate and concise meeting minutes and report presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent- interruptions, and to reprioritize work as needed.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
