Job Title: Polysomnographic Sleep Technologist

Job Summary:
A Polysomnographic Sleep Technologist works under the general supervision of the clinical director (M.D.) or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep study disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services of patient care and education.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Performs but is not limited to full sleep studies, titration studies, HSTs, MSLTs, MWTs, sleep staging and scoring using polysomnography equipment.
  • Collect, analyze and integrate patient information in order to identify and meet the patient specific needs (physical/mental limitations, current emotional/physiological status regarding the testing procedure, pertinent, medical and social history), and to determine final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols.
  • Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing to determine proper functioning and make adjustment if necessary (i.e., computers, amplifiers, PAP machines, oximeters).
  • Actively participate in department projects and programs including department inservice education programs as requested.
Education Qualifications:
  • CPR certification required.
  • Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist required.
  • RCP background preferred.
  • Knowledge of EEG technology preferred.
Experience Qualifications:
  • Three years experience or completion of formal training program in polysomnography required.
