Overview

The Site Maintenance Manager is the person responsible for coordinating all the employees and entities involved in the maintenance, reliability, and improvement of the Site to ensure it meets its short- and long-term goals. S/he is responsible for installation, repair, and upkeep of equipment, systems, and facilities at Cyanco’s Winnemucca production plant. This individual will oversee the management and continual improvement of predictive, preventative, and reactive maintenance activities with the goal of ensuring consistent and high levels of reliability. The Site Maintenance Manager will coordinate with operations and engineering personnel to schedule repairs, maintenance, and equipment installations in a way that ensures continuous operations. S/he will also prepare and manage maintenance budgets, oversee contractors, and assist with the design and installation of new systems. The Site Maintenance Manager must be able to align the site’s resources with the demand of the organization’s mission by being innovative to move forward with their staff and processes to respond to ever-changing requirements. They must lead the site organization by providing guidance to staff, service providers, and influence the decisions and attitudes of the organization’s leaders. This position manages/oversees aspects of the entire site that represent both significant financial investment in, buildings, structures, interiors, exteriors, grounds, and services.

Essential Duties

  • Enforce safety, health, and security rules and promote good housekeeping. Maintain safety in the workplace and promote employee awareness of environmental impacts, targets, and objectives.
  • Review and approve all necessary permits. Participate in Process Safety Management and incident reviews.
  • Maintain instrumentation, systems and records needed to retain critical regulatory compliance.
  • Manage the Site maintenance program including corrective, preventative and predictive maintenance activities, parts procurement, warehouse management and team supervision.
  • Lead and manage a team of skilled technicians; organize, prioritize, and schedule maintenance work orders and follow-up as required.
  • Prepare and submit reports on work activities, operations, or incidents. Review production, quality, and maintenance statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
  • Maintain a critical and rotating stock of parts and equipment needed to operate the plant.
  • Develop predictive and preventative maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and safety of all equipment and machinery.
  • Plan, develop, and implement new methods and procedures to improve maintenance programs, minimize operating costs, and effect a greater utilization of labor and materials.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement measures to optimize maintenance expenditures.
  • Monitor expenses and report variances to senior management as needed.
  • Communicate the daily status of machine downtime and repair activities; drive initiatives that lead to increased machine uptime.
  • Develop and manage the Site maintenance budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources. Supervise, train, and develop maintenance team to follow SOPs and maintenance best practices; work closely with other departments to ensure that SOPs meet company standards.
  • Communicate with other departments to keep systems and equipment in compliance with company standards and applicable codes.
  • Lead and coordinate Root Cause and Corrective Action of machine and equipment failures.
  • Rotate with other qualified, exempt employees on a “24-hour call list”.
  • Create technician guidelines for each maintenance technician level.
  • Supervise and manage maintenance staff daily. Recommend and implement personnel actions, such as employee selection, evaluation, rewards, conflict resolution and/or disciplinary actions.
  • Perform or oversee safety inspections.
  • Participate as an active member of the site leadership team; contribute to the achievement of site goals, building an effective workplace environment and aligning site with the corporate value.

Non-Essential Duties: Performs all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of the maintenance of production machines and equipment and a strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with reading and understanding of equipment drawings, P&IDs etc.
  • Experience planning maintenance activities and implementing maintenance best practices.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical abilities, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot problems and identify solutions, using various analysis tools.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to adapt style to different audiences.
  • Demonstrate employee interpersonal, negotiation, coaching, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).

Ability to work in a team and prioritize projects.

  • Able to think strategically and creatively with little oversight or direction (i.e., display thought leadership vs simply “do” or execute)

Minimum Education and Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field
  • 5-7 years of site maintenance experience; experience in a chemical / petroleum plant environment is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5-years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and safety standards in the chemical industry.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Work Environment
