Senior Tax Manager

Whalen CPAs is currently seeking a Senior Tax Manager with a desire to grow and advance.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Completes, oversees, and reviews significant projects and procedures completed for various clients of the department including review of planning, procedures, wrap-up, and client reports and filings
• Maintains significant client relationships and builds relationships with new clients and key stakeholders
• Directs staff in establishing engagement plans and approaches, and implements adjustments and ensures all firm standards are met
• Reviews engagement realization reports, completes client billing and implements changes to  engagement processes and approaches to improve profitability
• Oversees technical research including identification of topics to research, assigning research to team members and summarizing research for clients
• Performs complex technical research
• Reviews complex client issues and works with engagement teams to identify solutions and determine recommended approach
• May participate in training for department to ensure concept application, compliance and knowledge development  
• May assist Department Manager with hiring, on-boarding, training and performance management programs
• Participates in business development activities on behalf of firm and leads efforts to obtain new clients
• Supports and participates in implementation of special projects to improve the department and firm

Position Requirements:
 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related Business Degree required
• Minimum 7 years of experience in professional services role
• CPA or advanced degree
• Experience managing client engagements, engagement teams and staff
• Advanced knowledge of IRS regulations is required
• Experience completing complex technical research and publishing technical articles
• Business development experience including previous history of securing new client
• Strong leadership skills are required
