Job Description Job Description Salary:

We are excited to collaborate with our esteemed client in the search for a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer . This is an on-site position requiring an Active Full Scope Poly . In this role, you will join an agile, multidisciplinary IT team to design, develop, deploy, and maintain a Global Red Hat/Linux environment. This position is located in Laurel, MD.

  Responsibilities:

  • Participate as a team member in an agile multiple disciplined IT team for designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining a Global Red Hat/Linux environment.
  • Engineer, develop, and implement cybersecurity compliant new capabilities, in addition to enhancing legacy products and systems with Government approval.
  • Collaborate with IT teams (Architect, Admin and Sustainment, Application Dev) on requirements and integration.
  • Draft, develop, and document IT engineering efforts for new and existing capabilities.
  • Receive Architect IT design and requirements, engineer a solution, and walk that solution through engineering development and implementation.
  • Recommend sound cybersecurity practices in engineering development.
  • Work with various technologies to execute development, prototypes, and production tests.
  • Provide Tier III operations and sustainment support; develop automated solutions to enhance administration and sustainment; and enforce configuration management.
  • Brief direction, updates, and solutions to teammates and customers.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must already have a Full Scope Poly
  • Minimum 5+ years of related Red Hat/Linux engineering experience
  • Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA) certification is preferred but not required
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification preferred but not required
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or closely related field (work experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree)
  • Experience in Linux integration, engineering, and administration
  • Experience in Virtualization technologies (VMware) and shared storage (Red Hat OpenShift/Direct attached/SAN/Obj Storage)
  • Experience using automation technologies (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
  • Experience in Linux administration including scripting (BASH, Yaml, Python)
  • Experience in receiving requirements, engineering a solution, and aiding in implementing that solution
  • Experience in creating engineering solutions to solve intricate problems within a Red Hat/Linux environment
