Job Title: Senior Construction Project Accountant
Pay Levels: ($90,000 – $115,000 annual base salary)
Location: Marysville, WA (in office only)

Job Summary:
The Senior Construction Project Accountant acts as a financial specialist responsible for calculating and overseeing all financial and accounting aspects of a construction project. The duties include importing and reviewing project budgets, SOV - Schedule of Values, performing cost analyses and collaborating with the project manager to review the financial forecast for the project. Performing accounting duties throughout the project, such as preparing invoices, analyzing all transactions, and working unforeseen costs into the budget, while partnering with the project manager on change orders and requests. Keeping a record of all project finances for internal/external auditing and tax purposes, preparing cost analyses by interpreting projects' financial data and information, and developing and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and suppliers as needed.
The Senior Construction Project Accountant needs to have a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of work experience in private or public accounting. Sufficiently strong work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement, at the discretion of the hiring manager. Successful candidates must possess excellent knowledge of construction cost accounting and related financial procedures. Additional requirements, include familiarity with accounting software systems, such as MS Dynamics 365, a working knowledge of the construction industry, solid analytical and mathematical skills. Other important skills, include meticulous attention to detail, a high level of accuracy, good communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Position Summary:
The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of Senior Construction Project Accountant. As a Senior Construction Project Accountant, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of a Senior Construction Project Accountant III. Promotion is at the discretion of the manager and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher-level work, and availability of funds. Promotion is not guaranteed, and no promise of promotion is implied.
Major Duties:
• Review and Import Project Budgets and Schedule of Values.
• Set up Projects in D365 F&O using Construct CE.
• Request Surety Bonds and Insurance Documents as required in Contracts.
• Communicate Prevailing Wage requirements to Payroll.
• File with DIR/L&I intent to pay prevailing wage.
• Maintain any required Conditional/Unconditional/Final waivers for customer billing release.
• Customer billings at job set up, or request of Project Managers and per contract.
• Monthly review and Commitment of Estimated Costs at Completion (ECAC) with Project Managers.
• Review of monthly project margin gain/fade with Project Managers.
• Communicate with Assistant Controller or Asset Accountant unit expense and other expenses related to projects.
• Generate, review and post PO/job accruals and SG&A expenses.
• Generate WIP estimate (Revenue Recognition) entry.
• Review, make necessary corrections to Rev Rec and post.
• Review branch project sales margins for accuracy.
• Enter nonstandard costs to job in collaboration with Project Manager.
• Process Power of Attorney forms and/or Washington title applications for title transfer of units.
• Work with Administration Desk for completion of title transfer at final payment of project.
• Generate monthly or ad hoc customer billings.
• Upload customer invoices to customer portals as required.
Qualifications:
Applicants must, at a minimum, be fully qualified for the Senior Construction Project Accountant.
Job Requirements:
Basic Requirements for the Senior Construction Project Accountant:
• 5+ years of Project Accounting experience required.
• 5+ years general accounting experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or related field (Experience can be substituted for education at managers discretion).
• Deep understanding of construction project accounting required.
• High level of knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition, forecasts, budgets, margins.
• Accuracy with data entry.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform tasks as assigned with little or no manager oversight and input, within a fast paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
• Job set-up, budget and SOV creation, customer billing, collection of project AR, job compliance, WA title applications and Power of Attorney form. o Monthly review of Estimated Cost at Completion. o Handle the ECAC calls with your assigned Project Managers. o Nonstandard cost entries and project reclass. o Review of project PO/AP accrual for accuracy.
• SG&A journal entry review for accuracy. o
• Monthly revenue recognition review and process.
• Gross margin review for accuracy.
• Project close processes.
• Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division quickly and accurately.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Outlook, 10-key.
• Experience with Dynamics preferred.
• Demonstrate professionalism in all communications. Verbally and written with co-workers at the corporate office, branches, and vendors.
