The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring that accounts and financial records meet established standards and criteria. The duties include preparing financial statements, analyzing financial documents, recording and verifying transactions, and producing various financial reports. The successful Senior Accountant at TCDC is analytical and procedural in their day-to-day activities, dependable, and trustworthy in their ability to prepare and analyze all financial documents.

Responsibilities

Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting; assisting with regulatory reporting as applicable
Prepare financials and assist with analytical review
Prepare appropriate general ledger entries and reconciliations
Maintaining the general ledger system
Researching accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Examining bank statements and reconciling them with general ledger entries
Assist in monitoring standard costs and ensure accurate job costing
Assessing internal controls, including risk assessments and reviews of risk areas
Assisting in the preparation of budgets for review by management
Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes
Assist in coordinating activities of external auditors
Assist with Accounts Payable by processing loan payments, reviewing GL accounts, preparing sales & USE tax and applicable journal entries
Takes responsibility to know and follow all environmental, health and safety rules, policies, and procedures for their work area and takes responsibility to assure that their work activity is conducted in such a way so as to not affect the safety of themselves or others.
All other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; extreme heat and vibration.
The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.

Education and Experience

A bachelor’s degree in accounting required
CPA experience preferred
Strong understanding of accounting principals
Minimum 4 years of experience in the accounting profession
