New employees will be eligible to receive a retention stipend of $250 for each month of continued employment, in which service is provided, through January 31, 2023, paid with the first regular payroll of the following month. Eaton County Parks & Recreation's Summer Adventure Program, which consists of ten fun and engaging weeks of summer programming for children in grades K-6, is seeking energetic, fun, and responsible youth program supervisors to provide a safe and memorable experience for our program participants. Youth program supervisors will be responsible for leading groups of 10 or less program participants. Duties include: overseeing transitions to and from scheduled events and activities, facilitating and participating in group activities, and creating a fun and welcoming environment for Adventure Program participants. Ideal candidates will have a genuine passion for working with and empowering young people. Applicants should be patient, fun-loving and confident in their ability to motivate and assist summer program participants in everything from learning new skills to leading games, crafts, and hikes. In addition to the summer adventure programs, program supervisors will lead and facilitate mobile recreation activities, campfire programs, and other special events and activities offered through Eaton County Parks.Starting Wage $11.00 per hour 2nd Year Returning Staff - $11.50 per hour 3rd Year Returning Staff - $12.00 per hour

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Take primary responsibility for the health, well-being and happiness of summer program participants.Recognize and respond to opportunities for group problem solving.Encourage respect for personal property, equipment and facilities.Guide Adventure Program participants in participating successfully in all aspects of program activities.Actively participate in all aspects of program activities.Assist other Summer Adventure Program staff in a supportive manner.Meet/communicate regularly with Events and Recreation Coordinator and Parks Director regarding concerns, updates and challenges.Observe participant behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.Set a good example for program participants in all areas, including cleanliness, punctuality, dress code, clean-up chores, rules, and sportsmanship MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 18 years of age.Must have high school diploma.High level of independent motivation and judgement skills.Must have a valid Michigan driver's license and a good driving record. Subject to a criminal background check, driver's license check and pre-employment physical.Experience working with children.Must demonstrate a positive attitude. Other Considerations Lifeguarding/CPR experience including lifeguard certification, CPR certification and first-aid certification desired, but not required.Completion of one year of college desired, but not required.Background and/or interest in outdoor activities and pursuits. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Must be able to walk various types of terrain, handle exposure to all types of weather, walk and stand for long periods.Working Conditions:Works outside in varying weather conditions including heat and humidity for long periods of time.
