We are looking for a Platform Engineer to work closely with our Product and Platform Engineering teams. In this role, you will make an impact each day by building new infrastructure via code, supporting our current infrastructure, and focusing on the stability and observability of Aptive's internal suite of applications. You will support our engineering process, create amazing code, solve interesting puzzles, and work with a driven team that does all but the impossible.
Location: Remote
Compensation: $120,000+/annually depending on experience. Benefits included.

Responsibilities include:
  • Play a critical role in helping develop, deploy, and maintain software in dev/test/prod environments, improve automation frameworks, curate logging, and monitoring systems, and support other critical technical operations
  • Facilitate projects and work within and around the Platform Engineering team
  • Develop plans and manage timelines to improve operations. This includes analyzing data, managing scope, managing stakeholders, managing project tasks, risks, and views
  • Build and manage cloud infrastructure while utilizing best practices in operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, cost optimization, scalability, and high availability
  • Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines
  • Manage logs, monitoring, alerts, and dashboards
  • Track and manage system and software patches and upgrades
  • Ensure systems security and compliance with PCI, HIPAA, GDPR, etc
  • Develop tools to help software engineers deliver high-performance software efficiently
  • Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.
  • Coordinate with development leadership to determine and set reasonable
  • infrastructure service level agreements (SLAs) and service level objectives (SLOs). Routinely monitor and report on performance.
Qualifications:
  • 4-year degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent education and experience
  • 3+ years experience with AWS
  • 3+ years experience working in enterprise cloud application architecture
Required Skills:
  • Experience deploying and managing public cloud Kubernetes environments with infrastructure as code. eg. AWS EKS, GCP GKE, etc.
  • Experience with multiple public cloud vendors and aware of strengths and weaknesses of each
  • Strong understanding of best practices in platform engineering, devops, security, and software delivery
  • Understanding of cloud-native, serverless, and microservices architecture
  • Experience using SaaS and self-hosted observability tools. E.g. Datadog, New Relic, Splunk, etc.
  • Strong, demonstrable experience with Pulumi, Terraform, CDK, and other IaaC tools
  • Demonstrable experience with at least one modern programming language,. e.g. Go, Typescript, Python
  • Ability to effectively work across multiple environments (staging, testing, production, etc.)
  • Ability to debug and effectively troubleshoot software and service/infrastructure level problems
  • Self-driven and able to work autonomously
  • Ability to understand and prioritize the work to be done within the team
  • Experience writing highly detailed documentation
