Our Sawmill Lead position reports directly to the Sawmill Supervisor and should be self-motivated, with a goal of advancing into progressively skilled positions.
What you will do:
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating all equipment in area as needed.
- Demonstrate proficiency in necessary shift administrative tasks:
- Collecting and submitting proper production reports.
- Correct completion of daily Operations Report
- Correct and timely completion and submission of any safety incident report
- Correct and accurate completion of time cards as needed
- Correct and timely submission of holiday and other A&T type paperwork as needed
- Any other assigned tasks
- Become proficient at troubleshooting quality issues with the lumber and assist tracking back to point of origin for correction.
- Provide immediate feedback to operators or support personnel to correct out-of-spec. conditions.
- Support achievement of Operational metrics.
- Provide guidance to operations personnel to foster efficient and safe operations. This guidance will be in alignment with Green End Supervisor’s mill expectations.
- Hold personnel accountable for the proper and timely completion of their job tasks.
- Clearly communicate operations inhibitors of a mechanical nature to Maintenance.
- Clearly communicate operations-induced problems to personnel and operations leadership for correction.
- Be proficient at leading the crew in Supervisor’s absence.
What you need to be successful:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Desire to be a successful leader
