Job Description
Sauna hosts, working independently, run all daily operations of the Sauna in the Parks program. The host will guide participants through a proper sauna and polar plunge experience with a focus on maintaining safety and efficiency. They will demonstrate a high level of calm and set the tone for a positive relaxing experience. They will demonstrate a high level of group management skills. They will also be responsible for hands on tasks, including managing the wood burning sauna stove, outdoor fire pit, cleaning the sauna and collecting waivers and surveys.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Lead multiple, back-to-back, 1.5 hour sauna and cold plunge sessions for a maximum of 10 participants per session.
  • Organize, manage and tidy all equipment and supplies needed for all phases of the program.
  • Maintain and clean equipment and site, maintaining a clean and presentable sauna experience.
  • Manage participant waivers and surveys.
  • Enforce all policies, rules and regulations established by the Program Manager and Hopkins-Minnetonka Recreation Services, with a significant focus on safety.
  • Manage and maintain wood burning sauna stove and outdoor fire pit.
  • Maintain exceptional communication with Program Manager.
  • Additional duties as assigned by Program Manager.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Great communication and customer service skills. Good common sense, safety conscious, reliable and assertive.
  • One year experience leading health, wellness, fitness and/or recreation programs.
  • A high level of maturity and attention to detail.
  • A commitment to and belief in the organization's shared values.
  • Organizational skills and ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Experience and comfort building and maintaining safe and efficient fires. Or ability and interest in learning how to.
  • Positive personality to guide sauna experience and keep participants safe.
  • The Sauna in the Parks program runs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October through April. Qualified candidates will need consistent availability during this time frame with a minimum of four hours commitment weekly.
Desired Job Qualifications:
  • Experience operating a wood burning sauna and knowledge of the health benefits associated.
  • CPR and first aid certification.
  • Health and wellness and/or outdoor recreation experience.
