Mechanical Analysis and Methods Engineer

We are seeking a contract Mechanical Analysis and Methods Engineer for a position broad in scope and may include methods development, analysis, software development, support for validation testing activities, and software verification and validation. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in engineering analysis principles, including fundamental solid mechanics and finite element methods. They should also be competent in Python and have a strong understanding of object-oriented programming. Preference will be given to local candidates who are able to be on site several days a week.
Location: Bellevue, WA or Remote
Length of Assignment: 12+ months

Responsibilities:

  • Develop analysis methods for predicting mechanical behavior of sodium fast reactor core system and components and document in methodology reports
  • Conduct mechanical analysis of reactor core and core assembly behavior using finite element methods and write formal calculation reports
  • Develop software for automating analysis methods and generating finite element models
  • Write software tests, documentation, and support software quality assurance activities
  • Support planning and design of testing campaigns for validation of analysis methods
  • Conduct analysis for benchmarking test data and validating analysis methods

Qualifications:
  • 0-3 years professional mechanical analysis experience using hand calculations and finite element methods.
  • Strong understanding of solid mechanics and finite element methods.
  • Strong coding skills, with a preference for object-oriented programming using Python. Preference will be given to candidates who are also proficient with C++.
  • B.S. or Masters in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent
  • 0-3 years professional mechanical analysis experience using hand calculations and finite element methods
  • Strong understanding of solid mechanics and finite element methods
  • Strong coding skills, with a preference for object-oriented programming using Python. Preference will be given to candidates who are also proficient with C++

Compensation Range: $40.00 - $90.00 per hour depending on experience and location
