Position Summary:

HSE Specialist to serve primarily as a site safety lead, as well as providing some environment support.

Responsibilities:

Lead a culture of compliance on the project. Foster a positive work environment where safe work is enabled by treating contractors and craft workers with respect, ensuring that they understand that their personal safety is top priority.

Review and approve the safety plan and execution plan for any contractors. Verify plan complies with / supports the HSE plan and the site procedures.

Receive the safety plans for all subcontractors that come on site. Audit these plans to ensure that the prime contractor has reviewed and approved the plans as being in compliance with the sites requirements.

Audit the jobsite daily against the approved safety plans.

Review and endorse all mitigation plans for contractors that do not meet site requirements and secure waiver approval from the site manager.

Become trained in customer's site procedures.

Perform BBS audits daily.

Perform audits as indicated in the site HSE safety plan.

Perform LSR audits

Attend all project safety meetings. Lead the weekly site safety meeting either directly or by delegating to the project contractor(s).

Attend tailgate meetings every morning.

Audit permits and pre task analysis.

Become trained to issue work permits. Monitor the GC permit issuers for compliance with site practice. Issue permits, as needed, for scope not managed by the GC, if any.

Audit work permits for compliance and coach improvements.

Participate in incident audits conducted by contractors. Review and endorse contractor incident reports and provide to the safety manager for final acceptance.

Notify PM and site manager, safety manager, immediately of any incidents.

Verify waste disposal by contractors is per site requirements.

Ensure that exposure monitoring is performed per the contractor safety plan.

Serve as the representative and focal point for contractors when the Construction Manager or Construction Coordinators are not available.

Ensure that the site contractors report man-hours and safety statistics weekly/monthly.

Qualifications:

Experience with audits of jobsite and permits.

Experience reviewing and approving safety plans.

Experience with mitigation plans.

Education Requirements:

High School Diploma.

Certified Safety Professional is preferred.
