Alphazyme, a Maravai LifeSciences company, is looking for a Director, Operations to join our growing team.The Director, Operations is responsible for the Company’s production systems and staff. The Director, Operations will manage his/her functional areas in alignment with the company's overall corporate strategy and commitment to a culture of quality and continuous improvement. In accordance with the Company’s strategy as a world-class developer and manufacturer of enzymes for applied genomic technologies, the Director, Operations is responsible for driving efficient production operations through resource planning and facility management processes. This position is responsible for leading, designing and supporting expansion of production processes to larger scale, as dictated by business needs. As an ISO 13485 certified facility, the Director is responsible for ensuring production processes are designed and documented in accordance with our high quality standards along with maintaining our facility as best-in-class.

Description of Duties:

Build-out and management of manufacturing, production scheduling and facilities, including hiring, training, and performance management

Maintain weekly team meetings to manage each operational unit effectively

Maintain weekly 1-on-1 meetings with direct reports to coach and maintain team unity and growth

Manage with clear, concise, and frequent updates to respective teams

Manage from the floor: walk the halls, understand the opportunities and challenges faced by the business and encourage staff to bring solutions forward

Support Quality team initiatives in both long term, continued development of Alphazyme's QMS as well as in supporting day to day investigations and troubleshooting efforts

Support R&D efforts to transfer development initiatives to the production environment and scale

Identify and implement efficiency improvement initiatives in support of Continuous Improvement

Review annually operating processes for continued relevance along with constant improvement planning

Must be informed of, and responsive to clearly understand unique and specific customer requirements

Responsible for continuously improving, adapting and expanding capabilities as business needs arise

Perform other functions and duties as required

Job Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences or Chemical Engineering discipline; Advanced Degrees (JD, MBA, PhD) a plus

5+ years of experience in life science and diagnostics industry, with time spent in science/R&D, commercial, finance, and business/operational areas

Deep customer-facing experience, with clear evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills

Experience with ISO 13485 and federal regulations 21 CFR 820 and 211

Experience in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment a plus

General knowledge of protein purification and bacterial fermentation
