<p>Kimberly-Clark Corporation is seeking a Technical Leader - Natural Products to provide leadership in researching and developing natural products sourced from fiber feedstocks. This individual will utilize knowledge of natural product extracts, chemistry and chemical processes to lead product and process development work related to purification, characterization and isolation of non-fibrous products recovered from these feedstocks. The role involves working with chemists, material scientists, engineers, and process teams to isolate, purify and scale these natural materials. Relevant backgrounds would include natural products extraction, characterization and purification, chemistry, chemical engineering, bioprocessing, biology and the like. The role includes, at various times, literature review, bench scale experimentation, pilot scale process development support, product prototyping, product development, specification development, and establishment of quality control criteria and methods.</p> <p></p> <p>Preferred candidates will have a strong fundamental understanding of natural products and associated chemistry along with experience in natural products extraction and purification, preferably at a commercial scale. Experiences in chemical process development, materials product development, characterization, analysis and purification of complex chemical mixtures, and characterization of natural products will be considered. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to drive and implement projects towards commercial realization through strong collaborative interaction with diverse business functions and external partners. </p> <p></p> <p> <b>Key Responsibilities:</b></p> <ul> <li>Working with both internal and external partners, define scale-up processes and equipment needed to effectively purify extracts to meet current and future product specifications.</li> <li>Lead the identification of methods to characterize the biomass extracts.</li> <li>Conduct and coordinate natural product research and development including extraction, isolation, purification, identification, and quantification of bioactive natural compounds with emphasis on commercial scale-up.</li> <li>Work with both internal and external analytical laboratories to develop QA techniques and test methods to accurately quantify key components in target natural products.</li> <li>Apply a wide range of separation techniques to work with a wide range of compounds having high water solubility.</li> <li>Proactively look for new methods and techniques including the use of automation to increase efficiency and throughput.</li> <li>Train and mentor less experienced members of the team, supporting them to develop their skills.</li> <li>Be proactive in identifying additional applications for select natural products and proposing the best approach for their testing including identification of target partners.</li> <li>Make proposals for external partners to work with and propose and manage selected collaborations.</li> <li>Act as an ambassador and subject matter expert for both internal and external product and process development teams.</li> <li>Conduct all communications and transactions with the utmost integrity and honesty to build an unimpeachable business reputation. </li> <li>Ensure communication of project plans and results to partners, customers, and other team members.</li> <li>Contribute to an environment in which all team members are respected regardless of their individual differences and are motivated to improve both their individual and team contributions to achieve desired business results.</li> <li>Visibly demonstrate that safety is a value by following safety procedures, maintaining a safe workplace, and complying with safety rules.</li> <li>Develop equipment, processes, materials that meet safety codes, policies and guidelines.</li> <li>Actively participate in achieving organization and personal safety objectives.<br /> </li></ul> <p> <b>Basic Qualifications:</b></p> <ul> <li>Advanced degree in an Engineering/Chemical/Biological discipline. </li> <li>7 plus years' experience, (equivalent level of experience gained in employment will be considered) working in natural product extracts and processes or a related area.</li> <li>Strong track record of working with diverse teams to drive scale-up of technology from lab to pilot to commercial.</li> <li>Able to work and lead in a dynamic, scale-up focused team environment to meet aggressive deadlines.</li> <li>Familiarity with quality assurance and regulatory requirements for natural products.</li> <li>Analysis of complex mixtures and the isolation and purification of target compounds from them.</li> <li>Familiarity with the techniques used for structure and composition elucidation.</li> <li>Knowledge of natural product literature and technologies.</li> <li>Willing to travel 30% of the time pending future project requirements.</li></ul> <ul></ul> <p>Click the Apply button and complete the online application process. The anticipated pay range for this job has a range of $115,000 to $150,000 in addition to bonus potential.
