Summary:
Schedule: 2:00pm-10:30pm shift Monday-Friday (no Holidays or Weekends). Training for 4 weeks from 8am-4:30pm (2 weeks) and 8:30am-5pm (2 weeks)

  • A registered pharmacist who performs specific job responsibilities in accordance with the New Jersey State Board of Pharmacy, Federal and State Regulatory Agencies, and JCAHO Standards, ASHP practice guidelines and organizational policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
  • Manages the daily operation of the Out-patient Pharmacy area.
  • Provides medications and pharmacy services to defined outpatients (i.e., clinic, employees, hospice and discharged inpatients). Reviews pertinent patient clinical information to ensure medication prescription is appropriate. Confers with physicians and other healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies and problems with medication prescriptions regarding the appropriateness, dosage, drug interactions, thoroughness and formulary status. Performs all necessary documentation and coordination of services required.
  • Provides drug information to physicians and other healthcare professionals as requested.
  • Performs all dispensing functions of a registered pharmacist. Reviews written prescriptions, and processes prescriptions utilizing the electronic database processing system. Provides medications in quantities as per applicable law and organizational policies. Verifies medications filled by pharmacy technicians prior to dispensing. Provides patient medication information and counseling if appropriate. Files and maintains completed prescriptions as per applicable law.
  • Ensures the successful adjudication of prescription claims to third party payors.
  • Maintains appropriate medication inventory by coordinating procurement of medications with the pharmacy purchaser. Assists in receiving medication from wholesalers and vendors, completing paperwork relative to orders received, stocking all pharmacy areas, and maintaining inventory expiration records.
  • Supports customer service and performance improvement goals of the Pharmacy Department
  • collaborates with other caregivers/staff, within and outside the Department, to develop means of enhancing patient care and services.
  • Maintains standards of confidentiality.
  • Age-Specific Knowledge and Skills- Possesses the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to meet patients' physical, psychological and social needs with those growth and development levels/patient populations served within the Pharmacy Department.
  • Participates in unit compliance as related to established standards. Participates in educational in-services or seminars and staff meetings.
