In order to fulfill the job functions listed below an individual must meet the following minimum qualifications.
Communicate effectively in person, on the telephone, and in writing.
Possess current RN license.
Minimum of one year experience in health care field (Preferred).
Comply with all Facility policies and procedures.
Comply with all policies and procedures as may be established by your Director.
Comply with shift standards, duties, and responsibilities.
Comply with all safety, universal precautions, and infection control policies and procedures.
Ensure resident safety.
Present a friendly, calm, cooperative, positive manner.
Maintain RN licensure in the State of Michigan,.
Computer knowledge.
Medication knowledge (Uses, S/E's, contraindications).
Medication terminology and abbreviations.
Maintain CPR certification.
Fit Tested for a N95 mask unless failed evaluation or test.
On occasion may need to lift up to 40 lbs.
Prompt and regular attendance.
Work closely with physicians to ensure quality resident care, appropriate medical intervention and to evaluate
the effectiveness of medical and nursing care.
Supervise overall resident care; ensure care is being carried out as directed and ordered.
Give and receive report to and from other shifts.
Make recommendations on residents level of care and changes in resident care.
Alert resident, physician, ADON's, DON, NHA and family of changes in resident as appropriate.
Collaborate with all departments when necessary: Dietary, Infection Control, Therapy, Social Services.
Assist in the development and implementation of resident/family teaching plans.
Assist in the development and implementation of discharge planning.
Admit, transfer and discharge residents.
Initiate, update and identify problems on care plan; implement and evaluate outcome.
Ensure information on residents are communicated, recorded and is accessible for authorized use.
Assist in the completion of documentation as requested for reports, studies, infection control, accidents,
injuries, and any other documentation as appropriate.
Perform venipuncture in the absence of the lab technician.
Collect urine and sputum specimens and perform other lab tests as ordered.
Perform rounds of nursing unit to ensure compliance with acceptable policies, procedures, and standards.
Coordinate unit meetings and floor in-services as appropriate.
Submit minutes of meetings and sign in sheets to the Director of Nursing Office.
Responsible for maintaining professional resident records and completing charting on the shift as assigned.
Responsible for supervision of staff on the shift as assigned.
Evaluate resident and employee emergencies, incidents and accidents; intervene as appropriates and complete
appropriate documentation.
Develop work assignments for nurse's aides, delegate fairly among nurse's aides.
Ensure nursing personnel are following their respective job description and initiate or recommend written
communication or discipline as appropriate.
Replace nursing department call-ins and report all maintenance/housekeeping department call-ins to the on-
duty janitor.
Handle problems on the nursing unit and alert and/or refer problems to the Head Nurse and/or to the Director
of Nursing as appropriate.
Participate in Michigan Department of Public Health annual and follow-up surveys.
Participate in orientation of new personnel.
Ensure all nursing personnel maintain resident rights.
Initiate IV, lab, therapy when ordered.
Provide direct resident care and supervise care provided by others.
Enter orders in residents Mar/Tar.
Maintain resident records.
Maintain confidentiality.
