The Marshes of Skidaway Island is recruiting for an Activities Assistant. In this role you will work with residents both in groups and one on one to provide enriching activities that meet the Dimensions of Wellness needs: Spiritual, Physical, Emotional, Social, Environmental, Intellectual.
The schedule for the position is :
  • PRN: 1 Friday, Saturday and Sunday per month, some holidays, and coverage as needed.
Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of an Activities Assistant:
  • Assessments of new residents.
  • Keep accurate records of resident participation.
  • Assist with calendar distribution.
  • Lead groups daily.
  • One-on-one visits and activities as scheduled.
  • Attend activities assistants' workshops when offered.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly calendars.
  • Assist in charting.
  • Looks for ways to continuously improve safety for members, staff and visitors.
  • Assist resident to and from programs.
  • Encourage residents to participate in activities.
  • Assist in set-up/clean-up for parties and luncheons.

In order to be considered for this position, the candidate must have :
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent,
  • Associates degree in human service or therapeutic recreation therapy preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a long-term care facility preferred,
  • Previous experience planning and delivering programs, preferably with senior population preferred,
  • Experience working with geriatric population,
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to include a schedule including some weekends and holidays.
  • Must pass a drug screen and background check.
