Job Summary

Nurse Manager responsible for managing nursing unit/department operations, promoting high-quality patient care, and staff growth and development.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate patient care delivery, ensuring orders, treatments, and plans are carried out effectively.
  • Ensure unit compliance with clinical patient care standards and regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency.
  • Implement clinical area's strategic and operational plans.
  • Ensure staffing and scheduling support efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective patient care.
  • Deliver a professional practice model that encourages staff participation in clinical standards development.
  • Consult and coordinate with other departments for an interdisciplinary approach to care.
  • Rounds on patients with staff, prioritizing staff nurse patient rounding with attending/consulting physicians.
  • Lead or participate in change of shift/morning and discharge planning meetings.
  • Serve as a clinical resource, professional role model, and mentor to staff.
  • Make decisions or recommendations related to performance management, hiring, transfers, corrective actions, terminations, etc.
  • Ensure documentation of patient care is complete and accurate.
  • Lead safety and performance improvement activities.
  • Ensure timely, complete, and positive resolution to customer complaints.
  • Evaluate staff clinical competencies and develop programs for continued clinical development.
  • Monitor budgets and expenses, making modifications as necessary.
  • Ensure availability of supplies and equipment.
Education/Experience Requirements
  • BSN degree required.
  • 3 years of nursing experience, including prior charge or supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and competency in clinical areas.
  • Proven ability to lead, guide, and motivate staff.
  • Proficient with EMR.

PREFERRED:

  • Experience in medical/surgical, nursing home, or related specialty.
  • Proficient with Epic EMR.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
  • Registered Nurse licensure in NYS required.
  • Current CPR certification required.

PREFERRED:

  • Certification in applicable area of specialization.
