Position Summary

Performs and participates in supporting pharmacological services by stocking, assembling, and distributing medications.  Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Position Responsibilities

  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and other support staff effectively
  • Interpret orders and transcribe or verify them accurately into the clinical information system
  • Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies and appropriateness of drug and dose
  • Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners
  • Attend daily clinical rounds
  • Provide accurate and timely medication information to patients and providers
  • Participate in required training programs for pharmacists

Other Responsibilities

  • Completes required orientation as directed by facility
  • Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment
  • Follows facility Unusual Occurrence Protocol
  • Respects cultural and religious practices of patients
  • Upholds HIPAA regulations
  • Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts

Position Requirements

  • Pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD) from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy
  • Current Texas Pharmacist license in good standing
  • Minimum 1 year of recent pharmacist experience in a hospital setting
  • PGY1 Residency preferred
  • IV Certification
