Position Title: Advanced Practice Provider

Part Time: Minimum of 16-20 hours per week, Total Joint

Summary

This position will partner with Dr. Peace, one of our Total Joint surgeons assisting one day per week in the clinic setting and one day assisting in Total Joint surgeries. Patients will be seen at our Golden location and surgeries are performed at OrthoColorado Hospital in Lakewood,CO. The right person for this role will be a true partner with the physician and will be open and willing to learn techniques, styles, and preferences that help the physician team.

The position will be responsible for providing care within the clinical, surgical and hospital setting for Dr. Peace’s Total Joint patients. This role will be two days to be determined (Monday through Friday), a mix of clinic and surgery in a busy elective total joint surgical practice and occasional call coverage are required for AfterHours patient phone calls (a nominal stipend is offered).

Essential Functions

· Perform comprehensive and problem focused history and physical exams.

· Conducts patient rounds on admitted patients in the post-operative phase.

· Evaluates changes in patient conditions.

· Issues orders for medications, treatments, and lab tests.

· Provides surgical first assistant coverage in the operating room for Dr. Peace every Wednesday at OrthoColorado Hospital in Lakewood, CO.

· Writes discharge summaries, H&Ps, fills out consents, prescriptions all within a timely manner.

· Documents all patient care actions in the EMR promptly after patient visits and with a high level of accuracy.

· Excellent suturing skills are necessary.

REQUIREMENTS

Education, Licensure and/or Experience Required

· Active Physician Assistant’s license in the State of Colorado Required

· Active DEA license to prescribe.

· 2 years of previous experience preferred but we will train the right candidate.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required

· Well-developed clinical skills to diagnose and treat patients.

· Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to synthesize data to determine the correct medical treatment plans.

· Ability to multi-task.

· Possess a strong desire to develop high-level surgical skills to become a true asset to the team.

· Ability to assess patient’s conditions and make treatment plans.

· Work effectively as a true extension of the supervising physician.

· Excellent sterile technique and proficiency with multi-layer wound closures.

· Effective communication skills to ensure patients and other staff members receive pertinent information about conditions, treatment plans and next steps.

· Have the ability to present well organized, succinct, and clear patient presentations to the supervising physician.

Pay information: $55k to $75k/annually, based on experience
