Overview:

The Referral Coordinator collaborates with physicians, both internally and externally, to develop and implement a seamless progression of care to meet the patient's needs. The individual must have the ability to triage patients and manage time-sensitive workloads.

This is a clinic-based position located in the Midtown area of Atlanta, GA (2140 Peachtree Road). General work hours are Mon - Fri: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

About the Role:

Sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/imaging reports, hospital notes, referral information, test results, etc. timely and in preparation for applicable appointments; completing forms/requisitions as needed; scheduling appointments; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; managing and updating charts to ensure that information is complete and filed appropriately.
Responsible for coordinating and processing of all patient referrals for specialty services.
Utilizes a high degree of accuracy in obtaining and verifying that all registration data, demographic and insurance information is correct and up to date.
Acts as liaison between Avita Care Atlanta and other healthcare providers while exhibiting and utilizing a high level of customer services skills.
Performs eligibility checks on patients as necessary by telephone or electronically as appropriate.
Follows procedures for proper authorization and processing of all referral services including obtaining approval from our medical director.
Contacts the patient on a timely basis for all scheduling requirements
Communicates with patients to ensure follow-through with referrals.
Ensures strict confidentiality of all health records, member information and follows HIPAA guidelines.
Completes all administrative functions related with referral activities in an efficient manner.
Enters all referral, hospital, outpatient, and other patient specialty health service authorizations into the computer system following Avita Care Atlanta policies and procedures.
Responsible for monitoring all referral reports not received and follows-up in a timely manner.
Collaborates with Avita's Corporate Compliance department to ensure policy and procedure adherence
Additional responsibilities assigned as needed.

About You:

High school diploma or GED required
Bachelors degree in a healthcare related field preferred
One year experience in a medical referrals or other related patient support services position in an ambulatory setting required
Maintains a high level of patient confidentiality
Demonstrates attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
Proficient in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills
MS Office computer skills with the ability to type 30+ wpm
Experience with eClinical Works preferred
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Must have a positive attitude, be energetic and flexible, have excellent phone etiquette, and provide exceptional customer service

Pay range: $19.00/hr. - $24/hr., based on credentials and geographic location
