Job Title: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Location: Fitchburg, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Full-Time, Monday through Thursday work week.
Salary Range: $100,000 - $135,000 annually (based on experience and qualifications)
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our growing behavioral health outpatient services division in Fitchburg, WI. The PMHNP will provide high-quality psychiatric care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health conditions, to patients across the lifespan. This role involves both independent practice and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to patient-centered care and a passion for improving mental health outcomes in diverse populations.
Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
  • Assessment & Diagnosis:
    • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including mental health assessments, psychiatric history, and risk assessments.
    • Diagnose mental health disorders using evidence-based criteria and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Treatment:
    • Provide medication management, including prescribing psychotropic medications and monitoring their effects.
    • Deliver psychotherapy and counseling as appropriate, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and other therapeutic modalities.
    • Offer crisis intervention and management for patients experiencing acute psychiatric symptoms.
  • Patient Education:
    • Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
    • Promote mental wellness and preventive care through patient education and engagement in their treatment process.
Collaboration & Communication:
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
    • Coordinate care with other healthcare providers, including primary care physicians and specialists, to ensure continuity of care.
    • Refer patients to appropriate community resources and support services, such as counseling, rehabilitation, and social service
Qualifications:
Education & Certification:
  • Degree:
    • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a focus on Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Certification:
    • Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in state of Wisconsin.
Experience:
  • Clinical Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a PMHNP preferred, but all candidates with strong clinical training and relevant rotations will be considered.
    • Experience in a variety of psychiatric settings, including outpatient, inpatient, and emergency psychiatric care, is highly desirable.
Skills:
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills in managing a broad range of psychiatric conditions.
  • Proficiency in psychopharmacology and evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-based care model.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and basic computer applications.
Schedule:
  • Full-time position with flexibility in scheduling. May include some evening hours. This is a Monday - Thursday, 10-hr shift, position.
Compensation & Benefits:
  • Salary: Competitive salary range of $100,000 - $135,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
