Job Title : Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Full-Time)

Location:  Darien, Wilton or Stamford

Salary Range:  $130,000 - $180,000 based on performance and experience

Position Overview

Working within a collaborative network of clinicians dedicated to the emotional well being of both pediatric and young adult patients, you will utilize your advanced practice skills to diagnose, treat, and consult with patients in the field of mental health. Our practice is unique in that we incorporate a multidisciplinary approach to behavioral health. Our team consists of clinicians who are experts in the field of child, adolescent, and young adult psychiatry, psychotherapy, neuropsychology, family therapy, social work, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, executive function coaching, and behavioral support. The team will support you so you can practice to your full scope. Responsibilities:

  • Provides professional clinical services, in the area of mental health, to patients of Sasco River Center, LLC (the “Company”) in accordance with all applicable policies and procedures of the Company, Company’s clients, applicable standards of professional conduct, and all applicable laws and regulations;
  • Create a positive and supportive environment for our patients, fostering their emotional well-being.
  • Conduct psychiatric assessments, private evaluations, school based evaluations, and diagnosis of mental health disorders with the highest level of clinical expertise.
  • Provide focused and individualized care to each patient, addressing their unique needs and concerns.
  • Show empathy and compassion in your interactions with individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the patient, their guardians, and the treatment team.
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications as needed, ensuring patient safety and compliance.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of patients through regular follow-up appointments.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to patients in distress
  • Collaborate closely with our team of mental health professionals.
  • Participate in weekly grand rounds
  • Participate in community engagement education and seminars.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) for all patient interactions.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and stay current with best practices and emerging trends in psychiatry.
  • Have met requirements by the State of Connecticut to practice independently or agree to engage in a service contract agreement (SCA) with a collaborating physician.
  • Assumes responsibility for ensuring compliance with all quality assurance and licensure standards related to his/her SCA(s) including the scheduling and coordination of all compliance activities with the collaborating physician or other such parties as necessary, and including keeping records of related reviews of patient records and/or reviews of prescriptions;
  • Provides call coverage (after hours and otherwise) for his/her own patients;
  • Cross cover for other clinicians while on vacation or out ill.
  • Makes referrals as needed to other health professionals and community agencies;
  • Participates, fully and timely, in quality improvement processes as applicable;
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Education:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse school.
  • Experience providing psychiatric care and managing psychotropic medications.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a licensed psychiatric nurse practitioner.

Certifications:

  • Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted license(s) to practice nursing pursuant to the laws of the State where healthcare services are provided;
  • Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License pursuant to the laws of the State where healthcare services are provided;
  • Possess and maintain a valid Drug Enforcement Administration (“DEA”) number and all other licenses and certificates that may be lawfully required to prescribe dangerous drugs and controlled substances;
  • Ability to possess and maintain adequate/required Professional Liability Insurance policy;
  • Comply with prescription drug monitoring program regulations, including, but not limited to registration and use;
  • Possess and maintain all accreditations, certifications, and credentials necessary and appropriate to enable nurse practitioner to perform, and Company to bill for, the Services;
  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills, as well as thorough knowledge about the various medical processes and procedures;
  • Ability to function well independently, as well as a member of a multidisciplinary team, ability to work productively and effectively.

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
  • May require long periods of sitting and standing.
  • Must have normal or corrected vision and be able to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person.
  • Good communication skills and emotional resilience to provide support to patients facing mental health challenges.
