Description

Under the direction of the Director of Application Systems, provide project management oversight of key Information Technology projects, including project status reporting and communication with stakeholders. With coordination from the IT department, work with department leaders to prioritize efforts and target technological needs and requirements, followed by managing projects to deploy technology solutions on time and on budget.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manage key IT projects as directed by IT leadership and other areas, from initial project planning and requirements definition to final deployment.
2. Track and resolve unplanned activity requests and projects from end users.
3. Work collaboratively with others (e.g. colleagues, stakeholders, vendors) to drive timely completion of IT projects.
4. Lead project team status meetings to ensure the project milestones are met and dependencies are tracked.
5. Collaborate with collegewide stakeholders to achieve targets and goals, provide cost-effective solutions, and build relationships.
6. Research initiatives, solutions, and ideas being considered for implementation.
7. Apply Project Management disciplines such as quality, risk, resource, and change management while being accountable for meeting the time, cost, and scope of each project.
8. Facilitate training and documentation processes for project owners.
9. Track and monitor deliverables throughout life of each project and report on project progress.
10. Embrace and support the principle that "diversity is everybody's business" through the daily performance of duties and responsibilities.
11. Participate in and contribute to assignments and special projects as directed by immediate supervisor. Maintain current professional and technical knowledge in the field through professional education and activities.

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Advanced troubleshooting, critical thinking, analytical problem-solving, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop productive working relationships, communicate clearly, and collaborate with people across the organization; ability to manage projects to successful conclusion.
  • Ability to prioritize competing projects in order to propose effective alternatives to resolve end user concerns.
  • Ability to maintain composure and control when projects do not proceed as planned.
  • Ability to manage the work of a team engaged in providing specific services and projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of project management practices and methodologies.
  • Capable of working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, when necessary.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Required Qualifications:
Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution
Four years project management experience in a customer support environment
Project management certification (PMP)
Demonstrated experience using project management software tools
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent experience in a technology-related field
Experience working with IT in an academic environment
Supplemental Information

The Project Manager of Information Technology is part of the Information Technology Services department and will report to the Director of Applications Systems.
This position is available to start in August 2024.
This position is full-time exempt, and benefit eligible.
