Description
The Programmer Analyst shall report to the Chief Information Officer. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Works closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Design, code, test, and debug software applications.
  • Helps maintain NMJC's ERP System (Banner).
  • Determines system specifications; designs detailed records and report layouts and produces reports as required/requested; designs file organization, processing, and data processing procedures; codes and documents programs within the source code and in the user's manual; prepares test data tests and debugs programs.
  • Assists with campus-wide in-service training; installs and/or maintains competency in software packages used by departments; assists, supports, and troubleshoots end-user issues; runs programs and sends output to various departments on a monthly, weekly, quarterly, yearly, or other term basis;
  • Maintains programmer proficiency in a variety of systems used by the College; develops online applications to support all departments; may serve as institutional data coordinator to the New Mexico Higher Education Department; determines code, collects, and validates data necessary for the proper and timely submission of required data files to the New Mexico Higher Education Department.
  • Creates and modifies ARGOS reports for all campus personnel.
  • Assists in backing up critical data; serves as backup to other Computer Services personnel.
  • Maintains/updates the Banner/Bookstore interface.
  • Helps maintain all Form software systems.
  • May serve on various campus committees as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  • Nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to any of the various college activities for which he/she would be qualified in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or related field required.
Two (2) years of experience in program analysis and working with various platforms and databases OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Additional certifications may be required.
Must possess a valid State of New Mexico or Texas driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of programming applicable to the assignment.
  • Knowledge of common program testing, data file manipulation practices, and access methods.
  • Knowledge of information processing systems' theories, principles, and practices.
  • Knowledge of campus-defined systems, applications, and standards.
  • Knowledge of network configuration, programming, and protocols.
  • Skill in writing computer code in various languages or assignment languages.
  • Skill in understanding and integrating all systems, including operating systems, applications, networks, and databases, and knowledge of distributed processing technology.
  • Skill in performing systems and applications needs analysis, preparing proposal requests, and conducting feasibility studies.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students, and the public.
  • Ability to use standard programming languages, applications software, data structures and utilities, operating systems, and communication interfaces within the computing environment.
  • Ability to write/modify programs using multiple applications and databases and develop program implementation plans, install software, and apply fixes.
  • Ability to identify hardware/software interface problems.
  • Ability to perform database backup and recovery procedures as part of database management system utilities.
  • Positions may require the ability to move up to 50 pounds safely and drive a golf cart, truck, and other related equipment.

Additional Information
This is a twelve-month exempt position. Standard benefits apply. The full pay range for this position is $60,038 to $87,464.
