Leads and manages plant financial activities and staff. Develops, interprets and implements complex financial, costing and accounting practices for financial planning and control. As a member of the Finance Department and Management Team, incorporates Vision, Core Values and Major Missions into work environment and contributes to the attainment of overall company performance and strategic goals.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Leads and manages daily plant financial and accounting activities, which includes, managing, coaching, training and development of staff members who are accountable for production accounting, inventory, cost accounting, accounts payable and various accounting functions and reporting.
  • Performs monthly general ledger journal entries and financial analysis and reporting in the areas of costs of goods sold, tooling expense, and others. Reviews GL for reasonableness and prepares casual analysis against budget and/or recast. Reviews casuals with senior management.
  • Prepares, maintains, and distributes detailed weekly major program metrics spreadsheets and reports. Attends weekly meetings and assists in explaining performance drivers, key performance metrics and issues.
  • Reviews and analyzes plant financial statements to identify trends, risks, and opportunities to achieve financial targets. Assists plant with operational metrics that are linked to financials.
  • Manages and performs forecasting and budget processes. Reviews reports with plant leadership team and creates formal presentation to senior management.
  • Performs a detailed review of all capital expenditures submitted for approval to determine financial reasonableness. Ensures funds have been identified in the capital plan.
  • Provides financial representation in leadership team meetings and other special purpose meetings, as needed.
  • Handles the preparation and communication of financials between plant management and corporate management.
  • Monitors and maintains internal controls to ensure controls are working properly in compliance with established procedures, GAAP and FAS.
  • Provides assistance to department, plant management, and senior management and completes assigned projects, as requested.
  • Contributes to and supports the existence of a positive work environment through personal involvement by communicating, interacting and behaving in a manner that promotes productive relationships with coworkers, supervisors, customers, vendors, and others with whom such relationships are important to the success of company operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supports Company’s succession planning and talent development strategies by taking an active role in:
  • identifying successor candidates through recruitment and internal talent assessment
  • evaluating individual and team needs
  • creating development plans/goals
  • providing ongoing feedback and mentoring
  • Manages team performance by ensuring each team member understands their job roles, responsibilities, and expectations and by regularly providing feedback on performance.
  • Builds and maintains collaboration within team and between other teams in the company. Resolves conflicts between team members and with other teams.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related degree.
  • 6+ years of manufacturing accounting experience
  • 4+ years supervisory/management experience
  • Proficient skills in MS Word and PowerPoint and Advanced skills in Excel.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations required to complete all principle duties and assigned tasks.
  • Highly advanced knowledge of accounting/finance and financial reporting, including GAAP and statutory requirements.
  • Ability to create and interpret complex to highly complex financial statements and reports.

Preferred:

  • CPA designation or in the process of attainment
  • MBA or in the process of attainment
