Montefiore Medical Center is seeking a Physician Assistant Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery for a job in Bronx, New York. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery Discipline: Physician Assistant Duration: Ongoing Shift: days Employment Type: Staff The Chief PA's responsibilities include participating in the hiring and training of new PA's, provide on going supervision, and communicating quality standards, completing performance reviews and handling HR issues including disciplinary actions. The Chief PA will also assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures, act as a liaison between; nursing units, referring physicians, and house staff officers. Administrative responsibilities include preparing the PA work schedules, assisting with payroll and arranging PA coverage. The Chief PA will be responsible for providing inpatient coverage and supervising a PA team responsible for a Neurology inpatient Stroke Unit at Weiler Hospital. The Chief PA will possess the skills of a Level 2 non surgical PA. Medical services rendered by physician assistants may include, but are not limited to, obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations; ordering and/or performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; formulating a diagnosis; developing and implementing a treatment plan; monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions; offering counseling and education to meet patient needs; making appropriate referrals. Physician Assistants, in an emergency, shall be authorized to treat any medical disease and/or perform any medical and surgical procedures at the hospital or it's affiliates. An emergency, for these purposes, is defined as a situation in which any delay in administering treatment would result in serious harm to the patient or an immediate threat to life of the patient and the patient's private physician is not immediately available.
