LPN - Internal Medicine

Christie Clinic's department of Internal Medicine is seeking a full-time LPN at the Windsor clinic from Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with no night or weekend requirements. This role will be clinic-based with consideration for remote work following training and meeting department criteria.
Duties include the provision of professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices.
Practical nursing experience and CPR are preferred. Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing and a valid state license(or in the process of obtaining) to practice nursing are required.
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

  • Send prescription refills in accordance with nursing standards and as directed by provider.
  • Instruct patients regarding the collection of samples and tests.
  • Arrange for patient testing and place orders
  • Act as a liaison between the patient and provider regarding complaints, concerns, etc.
  • Instruct patient and family regarding medication, treatment instructions and patient education.
  • Demonstrate the ability to respond to triage calls using nursing assessment to ensure patients with emergency situations are given priority, and documenting appropriately.
  • Attend and participate in departmental huddles and any other meetings as necessary.
  • Obtain prior authorizations for medications, testing, procedures, equipment, etc.
  • Maintain work list from provider and follow up on labs, tests, reports, etc.
  • Perform related work as required.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 75 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a clinical setting with frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous waste, bodily fluids and other waste common to a health care environment. Requirements may include working irregular hours.
