Oncology RN 1 year Durham NC Oncology RNs shall work in accordance with the policies of the VA healthcare system where assigned. Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provides high-risk IV infusions to include antibiotics, chemotherapy, blood, and blood products Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components Provides patient and family education in relation to patient's diagnosis and expected side effects of RX Considers all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stage, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines Works with the technical staff to ensure accuracy of treatment plan Poised and articulated in communicating with people of varied educational levels and varied ethnic backgrounds Works cooperatively as a member of a team in all assignments Sets up and instructs patients and family members on home infusion pumps Qualifications Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse academic program (BSN or ADN) Current Registered Nurse licensure in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Three (3) years of recent Chemotherapy RN work experience is required All candidates must be able to: Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist Lift up to 20 lbs Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
