User Experience/Human Engineering Specialist

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related specialized area or field or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 0 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a User Experience/Human Engineering Specialist. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nations core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with customers and users to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

The successful candidate will assist with optimization of total systems performance and total ownerships costs, while ensuring that the systems are designed, operated, and maintained to effectively complete their mission.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Support the development of individual product/system components, and articulate human interaction, risk, and concerns
  • Develop prototypes, user persona's, operational scenarios, and process maps to support product and system development with emphasis on operational context, interaction, physical manipulation, and task analysis
  • Develop system design concepts and implementation specifications, providing context on usability considerations
  • Support system requirement development based on human engineering guidelines, and operational analysis
  • Support verification, validation, and test activities
  • Optimize operator/maintainer workload, and task/resource allocation
  • Collaborate with other functional areas as a part of an Integrated Product Team
  • Communicate user needs to functional area engineering partners
  • Participate as active member of project team on challenging projects/programs
  • Review program plans and identify human engineering integration gaps and opportunities (System Engineering Plans (SEP), Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP), etc.)
  • Conduct independent assessments for Human Systems Intgration (HSI) at technical events (e.g., systems engineering technical reviews, milestone decision reviews, certification events, and independent reviews)
  • Travel to customer/user locations as needed
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering


PREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:
Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering. Experience in Human Systems Integration (HSI), user experience design or research, psychology.
